Known for its busy New York city and tall skyscrapers, the state of New York is located in the north east region of the United States. Although the state is best known for its urban atmosphere, most of the state is occupied by forests, rivers, farms, mountains, and lakes. The state covers 54,556 square miles and borders six states including: Pennsylvania, Vermont, New Jersey, Rhode Island, Massachusetts and Connecticut.
New York partially lays on many mountain ranges including the Appalachian, Catskill, Adirondack, and the Allegheny.
